Infertility Support and Discussion
| We're moving towards injectibles and I'd like to start them next cycle, but we're going to be traveling and keeping them refrigerated isn't really an option. Are we just out of luck? |
|
If you mean something like Gonal-F, then no, it does not have to be refrigerated; room temp is fine.
The only thing that needs refrigeration for an injectible IUI cycle is the trigger shot (ovidrel, etc) and I think you can get away with not refrigerating that if it will be used within 30 days (?). |
| That is fantastic news. Follow up question - what days do you start the injectibles and what day or days do you go in for your sono after starting them? We're out of town for 15 days camping. I really don't want to miss the next cycle because of vacation plans. |
| It all depends on the protocol you are on. Are you doing IVF or the stims with TI? |
|
If you are doing injects + IUI or TI, you will be going in for monitoring (baseline at day 3 and then probably after 5 days of stims, or more frequently depending on your response and protocol, whether they make any adjustments to your meds, etc.).
So I would think you probably cannot be out of town for 15 consecutive days unless you are going AFTER IUI/TI, in which case you'll likely just be on progesterone suppositories and there's no monitoring at that point. There won't be 15 straight days of "nothing" before you trigger; you will have to go for monitoring and b/w during that time, with some frequency, depending on the protocol and your response to the stims. |
