Has your teens acne improved with tretinoin?

How bad does it get before you see improvement?

Yes but she had to increase the strength. Still has breakouts around the time of her period but otherwise it works well.

My teen had cystic acne. Tretinoin did not help, needed Accutane. Her skin is flawless now.

Yes. For both kids..

With any topical for most ages .. there will be a purge period -- in which your acne/skin looks worst before you see improvement.

Make sure your your child sticks to a routine with it.

This. She had the really small bumps on her forehead and Trentonoin and Dapsone were the only thing that helped. She also got some scarring from before see in the dermatologist. Wishes we had gone sooner.

Same here. I feel terrible about the scars (on her cheeks). Her acne is pretty much gone, but I’ve told her she should keep using tretinoin in hopes it will gradually fade the scars. Wishful thinking?

Is it scarring or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation? The latter will fade. Scars are more of a textural thing

Our derm said tret would help the minor scarring.
