The city of Miami is attempting to delay elections for one year, adding a year to the Mayor’s term. Do you think this is something that is going to spread to other areas? |
NYC officials allowed Mayor Bloomberg to remain in office for a 3rd term right after 9/11 due to the devastation to the city. But I've never heard of it so voting would be "easier" if the election is pushed to the following year. |
This is entirely wrong. Giuliani was (quite famously) mayor during 9/11, asked Pataki if he could stay on, and Pataki said no. Many years later when Bloomberg wanted to run for another term, the state changed the law so he could do so legally. “Rudy Giuliani asked then-New York Gov. George Pataki to cancel New York City’s 2001 mayoral election so he could stay in office after the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, according to a excerpt of Pataki’s unpublished memoir obtained by the New York Post. At a press conference with Giuliani and then-Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi at Manhattan’s Pier 92 on Sept. 24, 2001, the former mayor reportedly asked for a private meeting with Pataki where he “dropped a bomb” by asking the governor to extend his term limit, which was set to expire that year. Pataki initially supported the idea of repealing term limits so Giuliani could remain in office but then decided it was a “bad idea both as a matter of principle and politically.” “Are you really, right now, after a terror attack on our state, our city, asking me to just cancel the entire election? I am a conservative. We respect the law. For God’s sake, you’re a prosecutor! You know the law,” Pataki thought to himself.” https://thehill.com/homenews/media/484851-giuliani-asked-for-post-9-11-mayoral-election-to-be-canceled-so-he-could-stay/amp/ “The New York City Council on Thursday voted in favor of a bill that would extend term limits, allowing Mayor Michael Bloomberg to run for a third term.” https://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/23/bloomberg.third.term/ |
Rules for Thee. |
And do it begins..will Trump delay 2026 election s? He will definitely try. The SC six pack will do nothing to stop him and, in fact, will likely help him. |
Bookmarking this, because he won’t. |
Oh, please spare us the outrage porn. Trump will be on death's doorstep in three years. He would get crushed by his own base if he even tried to run again. Also, there is also only a 4-pack on the right a 3-pack on the left of the SC that votes as a block. ACB and Roberts have disappointed conservatives many times - and even Gorsuch a time or two. |
I hope you are right. If we are lucky he’ll be worm food by then. Poor worms. |
Bullcrap. MAGAs will do what their Dear Leader asks them to do. |
He absolutely will. He will declare a national state of emergency based on some false flag operation, probably having to do with trans-iranian-mexican-hatian gay immigrants and declare martial law. |
Wronnnnnggghhh |
It's certain he will try. He told voters they only needed to vote once if he's elected. He will declare martial law and cancel elections in 2026 because they will be a landslide for the Democrats, and he can't have that. The oligarchs can't have that. They want to keep their power, which they bought and paid for. |
He literally tried to overturn the Biden election. What makes you think he wouldn’t try to do it again if a Democrat is elected? |
Goodness, you really think people are stupid. Spread your lies on the maga websites where people don’t bother to know the truth. Giuliani was mayor on 9/11, not Bloomberg. Moreover, Koch and LaGuardia served three terms, long before Bloomberg became the mayor. |
Three hours would be lovely. |
