Too hot for a trip to Kiawah/Palmetto Bluff/Charleston?

H wants to go (plays golf) for a week to check ou those areas. I know it's hot everywhere but is it unbearable there? Will there be enough to do with me and the kids while he golfs? I was suggesting we wait till Sept but it becomes tricky with kids and their sports, etc...and he wants to take a "road trip". I am on the fence due to weather though I would like to see those places- thoughts?

All the places mentioned are by beach towns. Perfectly fine for summer.

Kiawah is a private beach resort. It will be in the mid-80s there for the next week.

Charleston is roughly 30 mins+ away. It will be in the upper 80s/nearly 90 for the next week.

Because it’s summer in the south, there’s usually a chance of rain at some point.

There’s plenty to do in Charleston imho. It’s a gorgeous city with charming shops and restaurants in the historic center. There are museums, walking tours, boat tours, carriage rides, etc. You can also find go karts and Minigolf nearby.

Kiawah is lovely. Stay oceanfront. Go to the beach. Golf. There are playgrounds and a kids club. Rent bikes and explore; there are paths completely shaded by lush green trees.

My kids are older and admittedly get bored at Kiawah, but I love it.

PS - There could always be a hurricane.

Of course Kiawah is hot and muggy in the summer. Most of the guests are southerners so they are used to it. It was too hot for us - YMMV.

Agree. My kids are teens and don’t love Kiawah for more than a few days. There’s not much around it. For little kids it’s great.
