I need a dark dress for a southern funeral for this coming Tuesday. I am tall with big boobs and prefer not to wear sleeveless. I am a size 8. Any recs that I can get in a store? |
Some years ago, I bought a black cotton voile dress from J.Crew. A-line skirt, flutter sleeves, hits mid calf.
Look for cotton voile. It's the lightest weight of all the fabrics. |
Stay cool--between the funeral (a lot of old churches don't have AC) and the graveside service, you will be WARM.
A black or navy shirtdress in a light fabric, or pants and light but appropriate blouse would be fine. Shoes you can walk in to the graveside service if you are going to that, the mary jane flats that have been popular the last couple of years would be good. |
Not sure where you are, but I would go to someplace like Tysons and just try things on. Everlane recently had a pretty black linen dress w/some lacy cut-out trim along the hem that could likely be made appropriate. How dressy you need to be depends on the type of people that will be in attendance. I always err on dressing up.
Focus on light and breathable. My last-attended funeral in South Carolina I stupidly wore a work dress that was not breathable. Felt like it was melting into my skin. |
Silk shirt dress will fit the bill. |
