He did a lot to put more colleges on more people’s radar screens. Not saying that was all good but many people outside the prep schools/independent schools may not have considered those places if the information hadn’t been publicly accessible in a magazine. Especially before the internet. |

Good riddance. The survey had a purpose many years ago. Now schools spend a small fortune in resources that would be better spent on teaching and keeping tuition down to figure out how to game the system. The system which is constantly slightly tweaked because having the rankings the same every year wouldn't drive revenue.
Then so many people, as demonstrated here, get completely obsessed when the difference between #34 and #35 is absolutely nothing. I wish these rankings would go away. |
