I've got the regular mushrooms but I have other word fungal growths - in mulch, on tree stumps. Haven't had this in the five years I have lived here. Any idea why so much all of a sudden? And how do I get rid of it? |
Possibly bc it was monsooning for a week? |
Wet ground and grass clippings = fungal growth. Keep yard mowed more often so the clippings don't develop a thatch, and so it stays proper moisture level. Or don't worry about it. Mushrooms are just absorbing what is not decaying fast enough. |
No worries, OP. DC is a sub-tropical climate at certain moments during the summer. It's fine. Fungi won't hurt you. Winter and fall are pretty dry around here, so this is going to resolve itself. |
Thanks. While my dog doesn't seem interested in it, he was my primary concern. |
Definitely keep them pulled up if you have a dog roaming around unsupervised or not. They could quickly eat one that could destroy their organs a few days after ingesting one. |
Fungi is really good for soil health. It will be gone soon! |
Fungus is always there. Mushrooms are just the blooms. |
Train the dog to not eat mushrooms. Works better than expecting the outdoor to be fungus free (an actual impossibility and u desirable even if it were possible). |
Only takes one to poison him. Not too likely though, but still, only takes a few min to gather them after rains. They don't sprout up that often. |
This is good to know! I have as wondering whether I needed to remove it. |
