DH and older son out of town weekend before 7/4. Thinking of a fun getaway with DD. Not NYC or Philly as we've been recently to one and going to other later this yr.
DD would enjoy shopping, spa, loves animals, not as into cultural museums unless super interactive. Not into camping. I'd prefer to drive to save airfare but open to a short flight (Not Chicago as we go frequently). It's so hard. I really can't figure out a destination that would be fun for just her and I. Help!!? |
Sorry - 2-4 day trip like Thurs-Mon or something - thanks!! |
Annapolis, Asheville, Raleigh/Durham, Charleston
Pittsburgh Boston |
Richmond is pretty fun and good for a short weekend trip. Carytown is cute for meals, shopping, and a movie at the Byrd Theater. There's a small zoo outside of the city. You can hang out at Maymont Park (and maybe see live music) or go kayaking on the James River. DD also really liked Short Pump mall when she was there for a soccer tournament (yes, I know, a mall, but it's outdoors and nice). |
Charleston, Montreal, Newport (fly to Providence), or someplace in FL. Wherever you can find cheap/easy flights—or drive.
I saw $500 RT flights to Dublin recently. See if you can find cheap flights (check Philly, NYC, etc.) someplace abroad for a long weekend of shopping and fun restaurants. |
Boston is a quick flight and a fun city to explore. |
Beach? |
I was going to say Charleston 100% but with the heat wave maybe better to go the other direction. Portland, Maine. Or closer and could maybe driver, providence Rhode Island? |
Pittsburgh
Boston DC hotel staycation -- plenty of spas, museums with activities, do the lunch cruise on the Spirit of Washington, shop in Georgetown. |
Is there good shopping in Montreal? |
I have fond memories of a trip to Montreal at that age. I’d just finished my first year of French. |
Toronto? Niagara and I believe a good zoo. |
my DD loved Montreal. |
What did you do in Montreal with your daughter? |
Baltimore |
