Can I afford Wegovy?

Anonymous
I’ve been on it for a year and it has been life changing. Have lost 40 pounds and no longer have constant food noise. But the coupon has expires so the price shot up from $25 a month to $600. HHI is 450k. No debt other than mortgage, which is a $4k monthly payment. Two kids in middle school. $250k in liquid savings, $200k in college savings, and $2 million in retirement. We save an additional $4k/month, so this would come from that. I know we could swing it, but I just feel so bad diverting that much money from savings.

I think your health is worth it.

Yes. a few pounds a month

Is this a humble brag?

There are a lot of people struggling to remain on it in much lower financial places than you are. It’s truly a shame that so many insurance plans won’t cover it when there are significant BMI numbers but the person is not quite at the A1C threshold.

No. I am very frugal and just cannot talk myself into spending this much on a medicine.

Maybe just don't ear and ignore the food noise. You know, the old fashioned way to weight loss.

Your health and wellbeing should be your number 1 priority. None of that money is going to matter when you are 75 years old, barely mobile from being obese for decades, and willing to spend any amount of money to be the age you are now.

NP. You are wealthy. Do what you want. Or talk to your spouse, if you have one.

No. You’re too poor to afford it.

What fresh nonsense is this? Are you one of the people who enjoy stirring up anti-Wegovy sentiment on here? Surely you are.

Clearly people who make far less than the amount outlined in the OP here will, smartly, budget money to care for their health.

We had people demanding that the diet and exercise forums be split because of hatred toward the Wegovy threads ... what do you want to bet we now see those very people coming in here and posting stuff like this? Because they can't stay away without spreading a little fatphobic rage?

We make around $180K and I pay $500 a month for Zepbound. Using a FSA saves me some money. I figure my health is going to get more expensive if I don't lose weight at this point so it's worth it
