Maldives

Any recommendations for resorts in the Maldives? Looking at around $1000-1500 per night. I have found a number of options but not sure how to narrow down the choices. Priorities are good food, amazing views, activities for kids.

Start with figuring out which hotels can have occupancy of 4 at that budget. I suspect that will be your most limiting factor.

Don’t forget to include in the budget the domestic seaplane price per person to get to/from the resort. IME those were around $800pp

Everywhere we have stayed has included sea plane or speed boat transfer both ways for the airport. We loved Huvafen Fushi. How old are the kids? I’d say Maldives is good for young kids but not really tweens

We loved the Como Maalifushi - went with our kids when they were 8 & 10 and they loved it. Small island but plenty to do for a week. Other friends with kids went to the Four Seasons and enjoyed.

This is why when we went to the Maldives, we chose resorts that were accessible by speedboat transfer.

If tweens love swimming, snorkeling, diving, sealife, etc. they will LOVE IT.

I went to the Maldives several times while living in Dubai. My info is a few years out of date so I won't recommend specific resort but keep in mind not every resort has great snorkeling. Some do, others do not. Most resorts require a seaplane transfer, some do not. The cost differential can add up. And it also affects the timing, seaplane transfers typically require long layovers at the Male airport at both ends while speedboat transfers are more efficient and direct with minimal waiting as they dock right at the airport.

On our last trip we stayed at the Angsana Ihuru, which was speedboat transfer. Tiny island, excellent snorkeling, but also pertinent it has a sister resort a speedboat away and guests could go back and forth and explore the different reefs.

Keep in mind there is nothing to do in the Maldives other than swim, snorkel, eat, drink and you know what. I never went for more than three full days at a time and it was sufficient. For people coming from the US I'd advise combining with Sri Lanka for variety. But up to you.

Thanks! We will only be there a few days. Not coming from the US and part of a larger trip.

We have one kid, not two. I just said activities for kids- plural because saying activity for a kid sounds odd.
