80% of teachers at my school have reported multiple issues with their devices that waste instructional time and interfere with planning and grading. Our IST says this is systemwide.
So when are we getting new devices? |
You are funny. Use your own device. |
My kid told me their teacher told the.class not to tell their parents they were showing YouTube videos at school.
Maybe MCPS should make it possible to not need devices. |
Teachers can’t pair their own devices to the smartboards or use them with certain programs like those for testing. |
That would be great. Also- get better wifi. I can’t even connect to my board. I have to HDMI every lesson. Super fun. |
You can do some testing on personal computers, not all. |
They need to shut off WiFi access to the students personal devices. That’s how the kids get around parental controls. |
Maybe my school doesn’t know that because we were told we cannot do so. Or they really mean may not and we physically can, but are prohibited from doing so. |
How would that be done? |
Why aren’t the teachers prepared to teach? Do they have too much administrative work, just to make administrators feel useful? |
Please report this to something beyond dcurbanmom. |
You just restrict access at the router to only approved devices and don't have an open wifi with guest access. |
I haven't noticed anything wrong with the Dell laptops at our school at all. Mind you, we have the newer model, 3450, which may make the difference.
Beyond that you can indeed connect to the boxlights with any device you like, wireless or hardwired. I actually prefer the latter because the internet access is far more consistent. I'm almost inclined to think that this is nothing burger. |
They all use VPNs. There are other ways to work on the problem of personal devices but I think there was a thread for that a while back. |
Yes, but they should have access to school networks. |
