LC at Franconia this weekend PVS Fail

Our club sent out serious warnings about this location and that it has no cooling system so the kids need to be outdoors. It is going to 100 degrees and a humid bomb. How is that even safe for PVS to put kids in that situation.

Then don't have your kids swim. It's that simple. Or pay attention to the meet timeline. No one is forcing your kids' participation.

I'd cut PVS some slack. It's hard enough to find teams willing to host an open and much less 50m facilities to do so. There's growing talk of doing away with opens entirely, which isn't a good outcome for more mid-size, smaller clubs. So yes, it's a PVS-sanctioned meet, but PVS doesn't control/manage an FCPA facility. Take your complaints to the county. On the bright side, it's nice to the see the new Mt. Vernon rec center finally re-open.

Seriously you have paid $20 or less in meet fees. If you don’t want to go, skip it

The deck space is very limited at Franconia - the meets there always have kids sitting outdoors, which is why they don’t host winter meets usually. I know they are upgrading the cooling system this summer but not until August.

Not looking forward to this meet. We were supposed to go to Audrey Moore and they moved us to Franconia. Just found out a few days ago.

In terms of inside ventilation, I think AM is worse. I hope the county can replace all the ventilation rec centers over the next 2 decades. AM is the oldest.

Oops I mean replace, but that’s likely wishful thinking.

I believe Audrey Moore is slated for a full renovation beginning in 2027 or 2028, not that it helps right now.

I would scratch. Putting kids outside in 100 degrees and inside swimming will be 105-110.

Franconia is the pool that has the thick chemical cloud inside that the aquatic director blamed the swimmers for creating by not showering before entering the pool.

Any spectator seating or standing at Franconia? Any way to film your kid swimming?

You can be on deck with them and there are bleachers.

The meet will be quick, not a lot of time between events to recover.

For spectating, I usually sit above in the lobby and just watch from up there

Thanks to the two posters with info on seating!
