Anyone become a travel agent just for their own personal travel?

We do a few trips per year. One of which, with extended family, could be booking five or so cruise rooms. I’d love to get the commissions back and found a place where it’s $30/month. Anyone have any experience with this?

I've never used a travel agent. In the age of the internet, they are even less useful or needed than ever.

At certain luxury resorts, travel agents get big kick-backs both for themselves and clients.

I’m not looking to become one. Just get back commissions on our own travel.

I did travel for a while and kept the credentials for my own family even though I shut down my business. Cruises pay 16% commission, all inclusives and many luxury hotels pay 10%. It’s well worth the small fee I pay my consortium, especially since my parents and my in-laws each take at least cruise a year.

My SIL did this. She has a day job and just uses her friends/family for commissions.
