Hi, we're applying our daughter to kindergarten in the fall, and struggling to understand the culture / community at these schools without knowing people in them. We care about academics, lean traditional, and definitely don't want a place where money buys grades and influence. Any advice on the private schools that fit that profile? |
Normally this would be a discussion for your preschool director. |
Given your requirements, I would encourage you to at least look at your zoned neighborhood public elementary school as well - "traditional" and "money doesn't buy grades and influence" are pretty much baked in, and many of them also have extremely strong academics, beyond what you'd see in almost any private elementary school. |
Are you interested in co Ed or single sex |
What is your net worth and what neighborhood are you moving to. |
If you want ss there are fantastic girl schools in NYC. The more traditional leaning are Sacred Heart, Marymount and Nightingale.
I don’t know about money buying grades, this is a little bizarre to hear but maybe I’m missing something. What’s most known is that legacy status buys entries to anything at each level of admissions. |
Where do you live? |
Basis or Speyer perhaps? |
These are the best choices for OP's profile. |
Why are you applying for kindergarten two months ahead of time? Or do you mean fall 2026? |
