Amsterdam in July

Anonymous
Partner and I are spending five days in Amsterdam in July. So far we have planned a museum day (Riksmuseum and Van Gogh), a countryside bike tour for another day, and a canal cruise. What are some other must do's or favorite activities/sights you recommend? We are more into biking/walking around cities and trying cafes, sitting in parks, etc than museums for what it's worth. We'd like to do a day trip outside of the city one day too, but finding it hard to pick where to go!

If they don't have tickets yet, they aren't going to get them.

Haarlem. Biking to it from Amsterdam is nice.

There are so many lovely towns to go to.

Delft and combine with delft pottery tour. Leiden is really pretty.

Utrecht is lovely.

Alkmaar and visit cheese market

The Hague and scheveningen

You can cycle pretty much everywhere. You could visit keukenhof, rent a bike and bike to smaller cities around.

And cycling would be much more pleasant in the smaller towns

Hey, when are you going? I bought Anne Frank House tickets for the wrong day and can’t use them.

We were there Christmas week and had the best small canal boat trip group with "Those Damn Boat Guys" (a mostly American group of guys)running a small biz in Amsterdam:

We also booked some stuff through Viator including a cool film institute. And, make sure to check out the Center City Train Station where you can get train tix + info about bike outings and other stuff. Have fun...best city in the world.

Consider doing a day trip to Zaanse Schans to see the windmills. You can even go inside one! There is also an excellent boat tour that you can take. It's 20 minutes from Amsterdam on the train.

In terms of canal tour companies, Flagship is great!
