| Assuming Walkinshaw wins Connelly's seat, do you think it would be possible for a very moderate republican candidate to be elected to board of supervisors? Basically another John Cook-esque candidate. |
| Speculation is Rachna Sizemore from the school board endorsed Walkinshaw (over her former colleague, Stella Pekarsky) so that Walkinshaw would then endorse her for his seat if he gets elected to Congress. |
| Yes. |
Maybe but here are the current/former School Board members who've endorsed Walkinshaw and Pekarsky: Walkinshaw: Karl Frisch Sandy Anderson Rachna Sizemore-Heizer Marcia St. John-Cunning Ilryong Moon Sandy Evans Megan McLaughlin Pekarsky: Laura Jane Cohen So it's not like Rachna is out on a limb or like those who've worked with or watched Pekarsky in the past are blown away by her past performance. |
| OP, I don’t think moderate republicans exist anymore. |
I'm a GOP voter, but all politicians like endorsing winners. It would appear that Walkinshaw will be the winner. So, what would Rachna get by an endorsement of Pekarsky? But, I do think she will run for Walkinshaw's job if he wins. Pekarsky might have a chance if it were just her vs Walkinshaw. I've been getting mailers from her almost daily. I also have received Shin's mailers--which emphasize her progressive views. All seem to be running against Trump instead of each other. On paper, Pekarsky looks pretty good if you are an extreme progressive. But, lots of parents are still upset over school closures. However, she won the Senate slot after the closures, so who knows. I'm a GOP voter, and I don't see any of them winning this election. |
They exist but they don’t win republican primaries. |
