I get that boys are on a different timeline than girls with girls 6-12 months ahead.
But - June 15 is the same across both genders so starting a separate thread from the girls one. Did your rising junior boy hear from schools on June 15 (and I don’t mean invitations to ID camp). I mean genuine coach outreach, calls or texts? No schools, some schools, a lot of schools? Schools they had been already talking to or new schools? If you had a rising junior last year and can speak better to the real timing for boys across this next year also helpful!! |

Very very early for boys.
It will be Fall of junior year at the earliest for most. You will hear spring junior year/Fall senior year and some even hear spring of senior year. There just isn’t much recruiting for high school age boys with the transfer portal. |
| I have a rising senior. He played at ECNL RL last year. He got a few phone calls from some D3 schools in June and July last year. Because of an injury everything is on hold right now, but he is going to get a pre-read from a D3 school soon. One of his teammates committed to a D3 in March of the senior year, another to a D1 in May. |
| DS got 3 D1 coaches reach out to him via personalized email once it hit 12:01am 6/15. |
| I have a rising senior. Last summer was quiet. He just received a lot of form letter responses to his emails. He was ready to give up when coaches started really responding this past spring. He had phone calls with many D1 - D3 coaches. Post phone calls/ID camps D1 seems out of the running. He is in the process of campus visits for D2-D3. The list has been greatly whittled down now due to financial, academic or environmental fit but thankfully he still has some options he’s happy about. He’s now glad he didn’t abandon the process but time will tell if the schools he visits make offers. It has been very different for his female friends who saw lots of interest and had offers as juniors (or even last summer). He knows of only 2 2026 male players between school, multiple clubs and training that have committed and those are both recent. |
Congrats! Curious. 1) From previous contacts or new contacts. 2) What club are you with? 3) He must be good but do you think interest has come from ID events, Club or your direct marketing? |
1. Sort of new. They had expressed interest by contacting the academy team about DS before the 15th. Sent us generic invites to their ID camps. 2. MLS academy team. 3. Yes, they saw DS at events like Flex, GA Cup, Playoffs etc. We have not reached out to any colleges yet. |
| DS heard from 3 D1 on 6/15. All 3 he had been in contact with before (they had come to showcases). His coach told him stuff happens later mostly. |
Thanks! Kudos again on the contacts! |
| Mine was in this boat 2 years ago. Got one text. MLS Academy. We hadn’t reached out to anyone. I don’t think boys coaches do much outreach at that point. It all really started after the college season was over and after the big December MLS Next tournament. Ended up committing end of Jr year to the school that did reach out which was ironic as they ghosted him for ages. During the process he was contacted by over 30 schools including all the ones he was interested in. |

Nephew is a rising senior at a MLS Next club, not academy. He just committed to play college soccer.
Overall process was much slower. While he did have interest last summer on 6/15, everything moved slower as compared to the girls. He did campus visits with schools of interest and had offers at a few smaller D1 and high level D3 schools. He finally received an offer from his dream school (P4) and accepted. He is very relived the process is over and he can enjoy his upcoming senior year. |
| Two boys I know of (DS played with) just committed D1 2025. Unbelievable! I didn’t know it could happen this late. |
| Interesting that a kid just committed D1 to William and Mary playing EDP. Was told MLS and ECNL would be the only way and DS doesn’t have 1 D1 recruit on ECNL team. |
| My son got three colleges interested ( 2 Div III and 1 Div I) that he had calls with (2027). They had seen him at the MLSNext Fest a few weeks ago. I say interested because he had phone calls with the coaches. Has received a lot of camp invitations (which does not mean they are recruiting him, but need to fill the camp most likely). Did have one college say they saw him at the Fest and invited him to the camp, so we are going to that as it is a high academic Div 1. One thing to know, from my experience so far, is that they are not as interested in 2027's now and a focusing on older kids now. I am guessing next June is when we get more communication from coaches |
