Bumping into everything

Anonymous
This is new as of last couple of months. Yes, I will check in with a doctor (mine retired recently), but did you find this happened in peri?

Early 50s and still have periods, but will miss a month or two. Have anxiety as worst peri symptom, also stressed about world rn.

I banged my knee on the table, I hit my ankle on way to bathroom, and closed fridge on my hand. I’ve never been clumsy and my balance is good.

Maybe you are rushing too much. Take some deep breaths and calm down.

No more than usual but I’ve always been a clutz. Running into doorways is fairly normal for me. Then I wonder why I have random bruises on my arms.

I haven’t noticed this symptom.

I agree with PP about rushing. When I’m already stressed/rushed/tired, I’m prone to being clumsy. Or if I haven’t eaten and or have had too much caffeine.
But I don’t know - I would be interested in asking a medical professional!

I have noticed this! I just thought it was part of the vestibular system aging.

Overtired?

DH does that when his iron is low. I am sure your doctor will check ferritin and CBC among other things.

I am in peri. Seemingly unrelated, but I was also seen by a neurologist due to family history of tumors. Neurologist noted my balance seemed off and ordered bloodwork for folate, magnesium, copper and a thyroid test. I did not have a tumor (MRI showed clear) but did have slightly elevated copper levels, and was told to take 100 mg per day of zinc (to lower the copper).
Just from an internet search, it seems like the fluctuations in hormones with perimenopause can elevate copper levels.
I need to take the zinc with a meal or it makes me sick, and the upside is now I am sleeping well and my mood is improved. I am not sure if my balance is better or not.

I do that when I'm tired. Are you sleeping well?

Check for MS?

I have become a bit clumsier in the past year, I am 49. Your level of stuff - bumping into or dropping things. Not enough to cause me to worry but still.
