Air India flight - Boeing 787-Dreamliner

Anonymous
How worried should I be if our return flight from Europe is on a Boeing 787-Dreamliner? This is the same model that just crashed.

I’m not worried about the 787 as much as air India.

I heard some Toyota Camrys were in some accidents yesterday. Better stay away to be safe

Air India itself has 8,000 flights per day and had a fatal accident five years ago.
So odds are 1/8000*365*5 roughly. Or 1 in 15 million.

Odds of dying in a car crash in us if you drive 37 miles in one day are 1 in 2 million.

Qantas has a better record but not sure you want to return home via Brisbane.

I understand your hesitancy given the recent crash.

I have always looked for 787 flights when booking travel; as someone who only ever flies in the back of the plane, those 787s are actually comfortable for long haul flights.

While I also remember the Boeing whistleblower story from last year, I am waiting to hear the definitive cause of the Air India disaster before freaking out.
