I'll be visiting the 5 colleges area with my daughter and will need to stay overnight somewhere. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hotel nearby? Unfortunately, a lot of them have terrible reviews and are expensive to boot. |
May not be worth it if only one night, but we found a cute cottage on airbnb in Northampton a few years ago. |
We stayed here: https://www.larkindependent.com/hotels/the-ellery It was fine. |
Loved Daniel Stebbins Inn near Mount Holyoke. The owners are delightful. |
My daughter went to Smith. I stayed at the Fairfield in Northampton every time. It was cheap, convenient and fine. The Hotel Northampton is supposed to be nice but we get Marriott points so I always did Fairfield. The Ellery is an old motel that was been remodeled. People at Smith really seemed to like it. The D suites (or something like that) was recommended to me but it was a highway hotel further away. There is a Courtyard or Residence Inn on Hadley closer to the Mass Pike and Mount Holyoke. Stayed there once for a college visit and it was fine. The second time it was awful. I don’t recommend that one. |
I stayed at the Hotel Northampton in April and it was fine. Ols school feel, not the cheapest, also not luxe. We wanted to be in walking distance of dinner and get a feel for the town. |
Hotel Northampton is fine. Good location. |
The Ellery is right across the street from Smith and walking distance to the center of Northampton. |
It is about 15-20 miles away but the Tru in Chicopee is fun - very kid friendly. |
Inn on Boltwood is nice but pricey. The Homewood Suites by Hilton Hadley Amherst is our go-to when visiting DC. |
OP here - just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful suggestions. So many great ideas and I'm looking into all of them. You are the reason I keep coming back to this DCUM forum! |
Have a great time! The pizza place in Amherst is great. We also enjoyed the ice cream at Harrell’s |
OP again - thank you! Is the pizza place called Antonio's Pizza? Looking forward to getting ice cream also. |
The best food in Amherst is at Lao Hu Tong, LiLi's, Pita Pockets, Pasta E Basta, and Protocol. Antonio's is fine, but aside from the chicken bacon ranch, it's best enjoyed while intoxicated at 2:00 AM. |
5 schools in 2 days?? |
