Will be in Boston for a couple of nights dropping off DS at college. Our younger son (age 13) who has never been before will be traveling with us. Please recommend a nice/luxury hotel for the 3 of us in late August. DS will be moving into Boston College, but I don't think there are any nice hotels closeby. The Newbury hotel or the The Langham looks nice, but I don't know the area and if they are too far away. Any advice of where to stay and things to do with younger son is greatly appreciated.
Thank you! |
Do you want to be in Boston or near BC? I don’t know of any luxury hotels near BC but there is an AC Hotel in Cleveland Circle. Or you can pick a luxury hotel in Boston. Boston to Cleveland Circle isn’t far but you should pick one or the other. |
I think I prefer being in Boston close to good restaurants and things for my younger son to do as there's not much close by to BC. Thanks! |
If you are just dropping off and then not going to see DS again then staying away from BC is fine. But that time of year in Boston is insanely busy so if you need to be close to BC then your options are limited (AC Hotel is adequate).
If you won't see your DS after drop off then The Four Seasons is lovely. |
Anywhere in Back Bay is close enough - about 15-20 minutes if you are on the western part of Back Bay. |
The Newbury is the better location. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance or a short Uber ride. Easy enough to get to BC as well. |
Hotel Commonwealth would suit you well and easier to get to BC from there. |
Thank you for all these recs! Very helpful. |
This would be my pick. Right at the green line and a short ride to BC. It’s popular with BU families since it’s right off campus. I don’t think their move in dates are the same. Availability would be a problem if they are but I’m pretty sure BC is slightly later than Bu. Anywhere in Back Bay would be good. We have a BU kid |
