People often times buy art for the name of the artist hoping the price will rise with time. When art critic said that the issue with Biden’s work is more just that it’s kind of pleasant. The colors are pretty, the patterns are nice, but it has no real urgency, no underlying poetry. That’s exactly why I love his colorful ones. When I come home I want to see cheerful colorful items all around the house. Not everybody’s thing but there is an audience for it. Biden’s other style of paintings are so detailed and work intensive you could tell a lot of work was put into them. Art prices are subjective and at times ridiculous. A German artist painted a mirror all red. It sold for $1.1 million. The abstract paintings reel him some big fish with money and no taste. Artist Barnet Newman sold a painting where the canvas as painted blue and there was a white stripe down the middle. It sold at a Sotheby’s auction for $43.8 million dollars. And who can forget the banana taped to a canvas using duct tape that cost $6.2 million. If they make prints s from Biden’s paintings I would buy one. One of the happy ones. 😄 |
