We are two! |
0. But we are a team that has volunteer requirements so we never have open spots. |
0 but our rep reaches out directly to experienced parents. Not a meet for new volunteers, especially timing. |
First meet and you’re short of volunteers? It’s going to be a long season especially the home meets which require more volunteers.
|
We always seem to be short a marshal or a timer or two on the morning of the meet, especially if it is “far” away, but we end up filling them. Now, if we could only fill all our lanes. |
We were short 1 until a last call at 9pm last night going to be along summer if this keeps up.
I already hate all the non volunteer families.. lol |
What league are you in that requires marshals? |
When you call the non volunteering families what do they say? I am not a team rep so I am trying to imagine how that conversation goes. |
So many excuses. But it is every meet. |
NVSL |
I’ve cornered someone ON THE DECK at a meetwho had actually signed up but was just chilling on his phone and he said flat-out “yeah, I’m not going to do it.” One more rep confronted him and got the same spiel, and another embarrassed dad overheard and stepped up. The DD swam the rest of the season but didn’t show up at champs or any summer after that. He’s now on our local school board because there was a mid-term departure and someone he appeared there. When he has to run, I can’t wait to run a whisper campaign against him on the sole platform of “bails on summer swim volunteering.” |
Yeah, if he can’t even honor that very minor commitment, which is a commitment that helps the team as well as his own child, I wouldn’t trust him to do jack shit in a school board seat. |
People are so bizarre. I would be mortified to do that. |
MCSL only requires them for USA Swimming sanctioned meets, of which there are only 2, all stars & coaches LC. |
MCSL has sanctioned meets? The times are put into SWIMS? |
