Siesta Key FL or Anna Maria Island FL?

We are thinking of going to either Siesta Key or Anna Maria for a week in December. We plan to rent a vacation house. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 toddlers (3.5 year old and 2 year old). I would imagine that the beaches in both places are just as nice. In terms of other stuff (town, stores, cafes etc), which of the 2 are better for a family with 2 toddlers? Thanks!
