Cost of beach week

Anonymous
For those who went/sent their senior to Corolla this week for beach week...what is the all-in cost? There are so many unforeseen costs to Senior year! Trying to get all the info to budget/help my teen to budget appropriately. Thank you.

If I chaperone, does it cost us more or less? Not sure how it all works. Please share how parents organize the costs.

Getting an MIP would be a significant unforeseen cost. Fingers crossed it won’t be your kid

We did not ask our chaperone did not chip in for the house or food, but I'm not sure what he ate. I think I paid around $300 for the house? But it's not a place I would've chosen to stay lol. I have no idea how much they spent on food as my son sent those funds via Venmo from his bank account.

Ok, good to know. I was hearing thousands of dollars!

Around 1k including food, gas, lodging.

Wouldn’t this vary based on size and quality of the house and how many are squashing into it?

My kid went last year. He and his friends organized it all, right down to the Costco run for food when they arrived. It think that his share of the house was something like $350, then there was gas, food for the week, and a little extra spending money. The boys really organized their own meals and cooked at home most of the time. The parent who chaperoned went for free.

Chaperones parents do not pay. Other parents should send food.

Parent goes for free as long as no issues. Any trouble and ALL liability will crush them and not so “free.”

Cost really depends on who picks the house. One kid went and the kids picked house. It was nice but not over the top. He paid around $425 for the rental plus chipped in for gas and miscellaneous expenses. Other kid there this year. House picked by one of his friends moms and it’s a really, really nice house. Larger, larger pool, closer to the beach. The rental alone is over $1250 per kid.

My kid's house was $900/each because it was ocean front. would not have been my choice but we paid it.

House was not beach front. That wasn’t necessary at all. It had a great pool and fenced in yard. It was between 4-500 pp.

Last year DS went to Ocean Isle. Not beach front house, no pool. House was about $500 plus misc costs for food and other stuff.

Took a bunch of snack stuff and made a grocery run for other stuff when they arrived.

Under $1000 all in.

It was around $700 all in for beach week. Agree unforeseen expense of which there are so many Senior year. Senior pictures, college applications, gifts for friends who are graduates, college deposit, supplies for college. It’s crazy.

Who organizes these? The kids themselves amongst their friends?
