What exactly are the California protests about?

Obviously it's about immigration, but from all the reports I've read, I haven't gotten a clear understanding of what the protestors' positions are. Are they opposed to the federal government deporting illegal immigrants whatsoever or it more nuanced than that?

Nothing.

They just want excuses to loot and destroy. It's like occupy wall Street. First it was about wall Street, then they wanted free student loans, then they wanted free health care, and then they wanted to use it as an excuse to party and do drugs all the time like a phish concert that never ends.

Pretty much. The courts have failed to stop Trump, so now Democrats are sending street militias.
The Mexican government is out $8 billion in remittances this year, so they will also have an incentive to encourage these 'protests'.
Someone put those cement blocks in place.

I think that most people see it for what it is - political theatre by the political left, and specifically Gavin Newsome who is firing up his base for a 2028 presidential candidacy.

They don't want federal agents in their country.

They are protesting Big Government agents in masks and no badges.

This is Trump’s real Jade Helm.

I don’t think it’s about immigration in its entirety- the protests are “no kings” so it covers a wide range of things. I think bringing in our soldiers to arrest and fight their own citizens is worthy of protest. It’s kind of horrifying.

Since we are talking about looting and destroying remind us again what the purpose was for J6.....maybe MAGA just wanted to wave around the confederate flag and smear feces around the capitol like good "christians" they are? Did they do drugs and rock roll after like it was a Kid Rock concert chanting for their dictator to have four more years and take away their rights.....all those middle aged men with white beards and dump shirts rocking out.

There are people going about their daily business, sending their kids to schools, going shopping, etc, and ICE raids are disrupting their lives and they are getting fed up with it. Somehow, Obama and Biden were able to deport millions upon millions of people without sending storm troopers to otherwise normal areas, to be disruptive. Add to it that agitators are always happy to use peaceful protests to cause trouble.

Depends on your definition of "most people."

If you go by polling and election results, most people are siding with not having gestapo-like federal agents on the streets of our cities.

But you need to get out of the right wing media bubble to see that.

95% of the "protesters" are just young people seeking trouble but there are some legitimate protesters in the mix and those select few have every right to protest what they feel is unnecessary overreach by Federal Government.

When will Dems learn that supporting (or enabling) illegal immigration is a loser at the National level. Are they really going to do this again after the Kamala disaster ?

We will have a Trump dynasty if they don’t change their tune on this.

Only popular with Republicans, and even then, not bigly.
