SCAM: Expairfare

Anonymous
We wanted to change up a few details of our Expedia trip and googled Expedia Customer service. This sites number came up as Expedia but they are NOT expedia.
You can hate Expedia all you want but this company made actual expedia reservations for car and hotel in our name but with fake email addresses and took our money even though these services are pay at the time. We are disputing the charges because we asked why Expedia wasn't showing up on our credit card and they said that is what the EXP stands for. We chatted with Expedia customer service and this is not true.
Be aware!

I wish google would vet scamming stuff like this. no way a fake number should come up first in a google like that.

Step one: Don't ever book anything on Expedia, the real site or the fake ones.

Unfortunately there were several agencies devoted to tracking and preventing and prosecuting these kinds of scams (which are rampant, especially for banking). But most have not been able to do their jobs since Inauguration Day.

Will the bank reimburse even though you approved the charge knowing that you are scammed??

Plus 1

I don’t get how Expedia still exists.

Wait…you really thought something called Expairfare was the same as Expedia?

I’m sorry this happened to you, but even someone exercising a basic 1990s level of internet safety and consumer responsibility knows that something called expairfare, with totally different branding and a different freaking url is not equivalent to Expedia.

You really gave a credit card to this website thinking it was Expedia?!

Here’s a flyertalk post about the company you got scammed by:

Seriously. WTH OP. If you knew you didn’t need to pay in advance, why did you? I’m confused, did you originally book with Expedia and this company just made “changes” for you, or the whole booking was a scam to begin with?

Always book directly the hotel or airline itself. Always.

If you Google like expedia's customer service number, this other website's number comes up. Are they identify themselves as Expedia in the phone

The only time Expairfare showed up was on the credit card statement which is obviously why I am disputing
