Why no backpacks at middle school tomorrow?

just curious

Because they no longer have laptops, they do not need binders, and the last day of school is prime “bring fart spray to school” day.

They can no longer use locker tomorrow. No backpack allowed so DC will keep cellphone & small bottled water in pocket. Don’t even know if they should bring lunch like a sandwich or anything.

My son is just going to do the "grab and go" lunch - he typically does take a lunch, but just for tomorrow, he'll just take himself (well, his phone).

Will he be very hungry if he eats when he gets home?

For girls who need to carry pads and stuff, you can always bring a little bag.

We didn’t hear this and DD is bringing a drawstring bag with everything needed for the pool since that’s where a group is walking to when school gets out.

We haven't heard anything about this for Kilmer Middle School.

Depending on the school, even a drawstring bag may be confiscated until dismissal. My kids' school said bags will be confiscated and kept in the office or lecture hall until dismissal.

My kids' teachers also made it very clear that phones are still off limits tomorrow.

My kid is in HS and bringing his backpack. He keeps his water bottle and phone inside it.

But why no backpacks?

That's so stupid, I don't believe it.

Also, plenty of schools don't have lockers for kids (maybe not in FCPS) and they walk around all day with their heavy school backpacks. My kids had to do this in some of their schools. Not being able to access a locker shouldn't be an excuse for confiscating a bag.

Rocky Run said no backpacks. Any brought will be kept in the office.
