Genuinely curious as to what the plan is after Trump has deported everyone. How will our economy function?
Who will work in agriculture? Meat packing? Service industry? I see a lot about “immigrants” being slave labor and that wages will have to go up to attract US citizens to these jobs. But that will lead to a huge increase in prices. And will US citizens move to where these jobs are located? Or is the idea that the government will subsidize the cost of relocating the jobs to where the people who currently rely on government handouts currently live? What’s the plan? |
Who will pick our cotton??!!? |
10,000,000 people is a drop in the bucket. |
That’s a flippant response but doesn’t actually address any way forward. Btw, machines harvest cotton so no need for anyone to do that anymore. |
The questions OP posed are the same as those who asked who will pick cotton. The answer is the same: machines, other technology, or *gasp* actually paying Americans living wages. America will be just fine. |
There was some expressed salivation over federal workers moving to these jobs, but of course then the RIF/gonna-save-a-trillion-in-waste fizzled out like a wet fart, and other countries were (and our) heavily courting our skilled feds, so, you know. Not as exciting as labelled on the tin. |
Not when they are concentrated in a few industries. But why not answer the question? |
We never had farmers or dairy workers before illegal immigration. |

Wages will rise due to demand and more native born Americans will work those jobs. |
About 70% of Farming industry laborers are immigrants. Kitchen workers in the cities are mostly immigrants. Construction workers in certain areas are immigrants. When you have 10 million people doing the same few jobs it’s not a drop in the bucket. Trump isn’t even going to get close to that number. He’s grabbing people in the obvious spots. Home Depot, construction sites, courts. Soon most will be underground |
As usual, the economy will adjust. The day of the robots is coming sooner than you think. |
Oh yeah? Prove it. Liar. |
Machines do that. Wake the F up. |
Great. How do we get from where we are today to this nirvana you describe? MAGA seems to believe magic is at play here? When will corporations start to pay these living wages you speak of? In 2025? 2026? And how will this adjustment take place? There are almost 500,000 unfilled manufacturing jobs in the U.S. right now. What policies will be enacted to fill the jobs we already have? |
