Why does my 8yo love the Minecraft movie so much?

Normally does not enjoy movies, but we have watched this one over 5 times...

The Minecraft movie is terrible. There are much more accurate fan videos made of the game than this movie, which was clearly not made by people in the know.

But I assume your 8 year old doesn't have the viewing experience to know this. My kids are older, and are offended by the Minecraft movie.

It’s a crappy movie, but it’s not that deep. Your older kids being offended? 🙄

Because they've been diehard Minecrafters and into that universe for years, so they know their stuff. It's like if you had an activity you were passionate about, and someone went and made a crappy movie that got the vibe all wrong.

lots of young children are giving it unjust amounts of popularity, because the way the protaganist (steve) says minecraft phrases such as "the nether", "ender pearl", and "chicken jockey" have become mematic in a way and very popular in both ironic and unironic brainrot culture.

Kids are weird

You do know that you don’t have to watch WITH him, right? He can watch it on his own while you do something else. Family movie nights are one thing, but rewatching the same movie over and over—I don’t have the time for that.

The "we" is the problem there. When I was a kid I used to watch the movie "Oliver" every single day after school. My mom liked the movie and she still wasn't going to sit down and watch it every day. Go do something else!
Now if you're having a family movie night and your kid is insisting on Minecraft, put your foot down. You get a chance to pick a movie too.

I loved Star Wars at that age, and was convinced that the book "The Truce at Bakura" was going to be a classic. It's not, but children aren't known for their taste in films and literature...
