17 year old player about to sign for Real Madrid from River Plate
What is Argentina doing with half of the county impoverished after narcosocialism doing better than us here with all the resources in the world that we cannot for the lives of us produce a single generational talented soccer player? Yea, I know pay to play is the culprit. But I’m genuinely asking why a country with 360 million citizens and coaches everywhere can’t replicate Argentina for a single human being to be a world star player? |
| Best athletes play other sports |
Soccer is free in Argentina for every kid? |
The most moronic of all arguments. |
Sounds like an ECNL girl dad would speak |
| Its something to do with the coaching and the years from 17-23. Our younger boys are competitive. |
| 2nd best athletes dont play soccer. Any MLS GM will tell you so. |
Wut? |
I feel this post comes up all the time to instigate soccer folks. Soccer is the hardest sport to excel in so most talented athletes will pick the easiest sport to do well in. It’s amazing cross training for a lot of sports. |
To replicate their success we need to stop giving kids opportunities to get good educations and have solid job opportunities with good pay. Once we block that path then roving "scouts" can take advantage of the best kids with their only chance of a decent future by blackmailing them into to giving them large shares of any future earnings. Let's get it done! |
in many academies in Europe kids cannot practice if GPA is below B. |
Basketball (yes, I know the Argies like it too), football (the American one) baseball are much of it. Many soccer/football/fubtbol countries, that game is the main game. Soccer being considered "communist sport" didn't help 30-50 years ago. And sweet baby Jesus, some of y'all whine so much about "soccer here is pay to play." Then take your kid out and let them play in the street with a ball of socks taped up like they do in other countries. It's free. Your kid can be a star. |
it is not true. please find some interviews with Romeo Jozak he explains it very well why Croatia with population like Montgomery county, Fairfax county and DC plays in WC semi finals and produces so many players. it is not because of street football. when I came from Europe I was surprised how many good kids u8-u9 were there and now I am also surprised how many of them(all) became very average(wasted, sorry for this word) at u14-u15. First I was thinking pay to play. But I know many cases when kids do not pay anything on top teams, because parents do not have money. Then clubs, coaches... I tried to understand why they(clubs, coaches) do what they do. Looking carefully and analyzing I concluded it is PARENTS and only PARENTS. At least twice I saw like teams get rid of really good coaches because they focused on development not winning. Parents initiated that. They wanted to be entertained on weekends. That's why they pay. And many many similar examples. Parents are the main reason why clubs do what they do. |
