Part time AAP (level 3)

Anonymous
My child was offered part time (level 3) services at the end of last school year and has been participating in pull outs all year.

I assumed this just continues every year but we didn’t get another permission form for next year. Do they send one every year or is it like level 4 and once you’re in, you don’t have to do anything further to stay in?

Once you're in level 3, you're in.

No that’s not true. Part time AAP is assessed every year. Admission is only on a yearly basis.

No you're wrong. "Once they are identified, students do not need to be evaluated each year." https://www.fcps.edu/academics/advanced-academic-programs-aap/elementary

Pulling out the quote from this link. Level III is now called "part-time":

Part-Time Services, Grades 3-6

Some students have advanced academic needs in multiple subject areas in addition to specific subject differentiation. These students need part-time AAP services.  In part-time services:

Students work with other students who have similar academic needs through weekly pull-out classes or weekly co-taught lessons with the AART and classroom teacher.
Teachers provide frequent opportunities to use materials from the AAP Curriculum Framework in Language Arts, science, social studies, and/or mathematics.
Each year a local committee screens all students in grades 3-6 for possible participation in Part-Time advanced academic services. Part-time services continue through Grade 6. Once they are identified, students do not need to be evaluated each year.

You must be subject specific vs part time level 3.

Believe level 3 assessment is once and if they are in, they’re in.

If it’s level 3/ part time for grade 3-6 once you are in you are in. If it’s level II and younger than 3rd grade then it’s year to year.

Why can’t they offer Level 3 from K to 2? Level 2 has been pointless, a spoon to build a tunnel.

Level 3 is equally pointless.

Disagree. My daughter has really enjoyed the pull outs this year. It’s a lot of problem solving and creative thinking.
