There was an episode on a comedy TV show where characters were flying somewhere — one or some got to sit in first class and the others had to stay back in the regular cabin. The joke was something like, “once you go in front of the curtain…you can’t go behind the curtain.”

Sounds like Seinfeld to me. I can picture the cadence when he says the joke. Maybe this episode?

Yes! I will have to watch the whole show to see if he actually says that particular line (or something close to it) or maybe we just made up the joke ourselves after watching the show!
