| Hi there! We're looking for someone to tutor our kiddos in McLean. Any ideas on how to go about a search like this? A college student or former / current educator would be perfect but not sure how to find those folks! THANK you in advance! |

What dialect are you looking for for tutoring and what/how much do you speak at home?
What’s your goal with the language? Verbal proficiency, reading and writing, just general exposure, prep for a trip, connecting to heritage, prep for HS courses, or something else? It’s easier to answer with that information. |
| i'd recommend reaching out to the saturday chinese schools, those teachers might be looking to pick up some summer hours right now. |
| Chinese restaurants of course! |
| Ask at Chesterbrook Taiwanese Presbyterian on Westmoreland just south of Kirby. Most Taiwanese people also can speak Mandarin Chinese, because all public schools in Taiwan teach in Mandarin Chinese. |

OP here- we are not Chinese but have been teaching our kids to speak Mandarin since they were very young. Moving to the area and looking to continue. Currently we do lessons 2x a week in home.
Goals are: 1- general exposure to the world beyond our family / cultural awareness 2- hopefully giving them speaking ability 3- hopefully transitioning to language class in school at some point… kids are still elementary age Really appreciate your help and suggestions! |

OP really might want to ask at the Taiwanese church. It is likely that someone there would have good suggestions about finding a local Mandarin tutor.
On the VA side, the 7 Corners area has a lot of Asian culture, both Vietnamese and overseas Chinese. On the MD side, there is a big overseas Chinese community in/near Rockville. Also, the public elementary school for Potomac in MD has bilingual immersion with Mandarin. |
| I am a native Chinese speaker and I've been tutoring Chinese for 2 years both in-person and on-line since my family relocated from China 2 years ago. I can teach both kids and adults. Please contact me via 2024388837(text first please) |
