| HI, my spouse has been having medical issues for about 9 months after getting a minor concussion and having a blood pressure issue. They have seen a bunch of doctors (primary care, a neurologist, a sports med doc) but continue t have lingering issues that no one really can explain, Would love to find someone willing/interested in getting to the bottom of the issue! Anywhere in the DMV area is fine if you've seen someone amazing who can take vague symptoms and sort out what might be the root cause!! |
| Has he had imaging of his head to rule out blood vessel abnormalities, clots, masses. How did he get concussed? |
|
Can you give us an idea of what the lingering issues are? Hard to think of the possibly relevant specialists without some hint of what they are.
With the very little you have given us, mild concussion and a blood pressure issue (we are not sure whether too high or too low), one could make a perhaps wild connection between the two as in orthostatic hypotension that caused him to faint and suffer a mild head injury. In that case one would think of a cardiologist knowledgeable about POTS. But high blood pressure can be tricky--it can be caused by certain kidney conditions, rather than the reverse as one might expect. |
|
What area of his brain was concussed? How was the severity determined? What are the symptoms he is experiencing? Brain injuries can have serious impacts on a person's health.
My child had post concussive syndrome for nearly 2 years after a seemingly mild concussion. His symptoms were mainly psychological: emotional dysregulation, mixed up emotional reactions (crying instead of laughing and vice versa), ocd, etc. His brain had to heal. 5 years later, his mental health is good. He still had ocd, which is well managed. I'm not saying the concussion caused the ocd, just that it became apparent after the injury. |
| It was high BP, and they fainted and we weren't even sure they hit their head but later the symptoms of concussion were present (dizziness, headache). That was in Septemebr. Lingering symptoms are feeling of head "fullness" and a sense that they cant feel where their legs are in space (not sure that makes sense). which makes them feel wobbly. All scans, etc are "normal. Not sure if we should try a new neuorologist or what!! Very frustrating and taking a toll on mental health for sure. |
| Try ChatGPT. I'm not joking. Dr. House doesn't exist. |
| What are his blood pressures doing now? Could it be dysautonomia? |
| Maybe you need a cardiologist for the blood pressure issue. |
|
Was he medicated and is he still medicated for high blood pressure? Many BP medications are not well tolerated and some may have to try a few before finding one they tolerate well. Another medication given for high BP, Lasix (usually in generic form), can definitely cause dizziness and fainting.
Who is treating the high BP? I would suggest a cardiologist, maybe one knowledgeable about dysautonomia or orthostatic hypotension, if he hasn't already seen one. |
| Long Covid? Did he have covid before? It's becoming the usual suspect in the perimenopause threads and we are all comparing notes that doctors don't understand eff-all about it yet. Crossing fingers. |
| Take all of the reports you have and plug them into Chat GPT with the symptoms and timing etc. Seriously. PP is correct. |
| Hi, yes, they see a cardiologist and are medicated for BP, but at the time of the fainting and after the medication needed to be increased and we were unaware. Now the BP is well controlled but symptoms have not abated. Anyone love some doc nearby that specializes in POTS and related disorders? |
|
will also try ChatGPt for help too
|
| I googled "cardiologist pots expert in washington dc metro area" and Google AI came up with a list. The only I have heard of before is Dr. Hassan Abdallah. |
Np here, but I’ll share that my dh passed out and hit his head when he had Covid. No lingering issues, thankfully, but he never fainted before he had Covid or since. It was really weird (and scary!). |
