Anyone's kids in the DC area play ball hockey, and would you be willing to share your experience? Interested in finding something for my 10 year old. Found Active Play online which looks reasonable. Just wondering what it's like. Do kids who start playing keep playing? Is it competitive? Does it require certain skills? I don't know a single person who has done this so just trying to get a vibe check.

I think there is a team that practices at Rockville Sportplex.

We tried 2 seasons of active play. It was fun. Not convenient for us, but we'll organized and age appropriate. Worth the driving! However, it really isn't much for kids beyond age 10. Felt like it was geared towards younger kids. Also team doesn't practice together as a team. It's just random by day. That was much more convenient and makes sense for younger years, but if your kid is competitive and wants a real team environment as they get older that's harder. In other words I think it's great for younger ages.

Thank you for this! Is it mixed ages at practice and if so is it mostly younger kids? My 10 year old is a big guy and being grouped with 6 year olds wouldn't be much fun for him I think. It's not a cheap program so I'm trying to understand if it's a good deal.
