MS math teacher calls students “stupid” for making mistakes in class. Her supervisor is the AP, who is aware of this pattern (across time and classes). AP and principal don’t do anything.
Worth reaching out to principal’s supervisor? I hate doing that bc I know I need to save it for big things and I am having trouble deciding how big a deal this is at MS level. |
Have you put your concerns in writing? I find it difficult to understand how an assistant principal or principal would ignore written documentation of a teacher regularly calling kids "stupid." |
The administration is waiting for enough concerned parents to file complaints in writing it order to write up the teacher. They can't do much with verbal insults unless they're against a protected class, so they need hefty documentation.
So if you want to make the most impact, file a bullying complaint against the teacher. It's true anyway. |
You could put it in writing. But fact is that they’d rather have this teacher than no teacher or a long term sub. |
Ask the teacher if she's stupid. "You must be so stupid to think it's appropriate to call children stupid. How did someone as stupid as you even graduate from college?" |
Yes. Multiple emails. |
You call a meeting with the Principal, Assistant Principal and your child's counselor and the teacher.
You come with documentation every time the teacher has done this time and date. Then you have your child moved to a different period. |
Do not let this go unaddressed. As a teacher, this is inexcusable. |
In that case, sure, I would forward the trail of messages to whomever the principal reports to and ask why these concerns are being repeatedly ignored. But if this is going on in a class of many students--I would try to mobilize some other parents as well... |
Wait till the school year is over and go to central office. |
What school? |
Do not allow this to continue. Ask to meet asap with the principal by email, describing the concern and cc the school’s director. If you don’t know the director, just call their main office to find out: (240) 740-3100. |
After they calling the kids stupid or the mistakes stupid? |
Doesn't matter. |
This is funny but not good if your kid is still in the class. |
