On his podcast he was claiming the U.S. and Israel should strike Iran jointly and that if the U.S. refuses too help Israel should at least be allowed to strike since they are not involved in the negotiations.
Another commentator, Alan Dershowitz, appeared on Brian Kilmeade's show on Fox news and argued Trump should have the U.S. strike Iran if the negotiations arent successful whilst negotiations are ongoing or at least green light Israel striking Iran. My question: If Israel strikes Iran, does the U.S. have an obligation to go to war on behalf of Israel? If Israel starts a war with Iran would that inevitably drag the U.S. into a war in the M.E. like Iraq/Afghanistan? |
We need stay out of it. What a monster, to insist sending American kids to fight yet another Middle Eastern war. Of course, he's free to send his own children to fight on behalf of Israel.
Nor our circus, not our monkeys. |
Israel can only attack Iran from the air and with, perhaps, a few very small commando-style ground operations. There is no way in hell that the IDF is capable of occupying Iran. Therefore, if Israel strikes first, it has to deliver a knock-out blow because past experience shows that it cannot defend itself against an Iranian attack. Israel needs the help of the U.S. to do that. Trump has clearly warned Israel not to attack while U.S.-Iran talks are going on. It is therefore possible that Trump will not come to Israel's aid if Israel strikes first.
I can't see Trump showing any interest in an Iraq-style occupation of Iran. Therefore, if the U.S. gets involved, I think our attacks will be limited to stand-off weapons. The result of those attacks will likely be to turn Iran into a failed state, joining the failed states of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and, partially, Lebanon. That is a lot of territory and a lot of people to put into states of anarchy and is a recipe for future problems. |
Our government has done nothing good in the Middle East. |
Zionists have been clamoring for war with Iran for decades. Shapiro is just a mouthpiece that regurgitates the positions of the Israeli government.
Netanyahu and his advisors developed the Clean Break strategy to reshape the wider Middle East by planning to wage war on 7countries: Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and in Africa - Libya, Somalia and Sudan. The events in Syria in December 2024 are the culmination of a long-term effort by Israel to reshape the Middle East to its benefit. Iran is the final country remaining on that list. Somehow and someway, Israel will get the US involved as has been the precedent set by the 6 other countries. The extent to which we get involved in this war though is uncertain, though I agree that it is more likely the US will be more hands off or by proxy. |
Democrats have consistently made a big mess over there. |
Its a good plan. Then we won't have the resources to start a fight with Russia or China. |
It is not a good plan. Did we learn nothing from Iraq nor Afghanistan? |
Your more optimistic than I am JS about Trump and the U.S refusing to help Israel od they strike.
If Israel strikes Iran, Iran will 100% retailiate, they have been preparing for such an attack for decades. We understestimate their military capability. Their missiles easily broke through US missile defense shield systems and they were not giving it their 100% (they gave heads up, struck at night to lower civilian casualities and only used a few of their best/most advanced hypersonic missile) If Israel strikes Iran **we will** be dragged into a war and Iran is no push over country. +Get ready for $8 gas bc they stated they will strike Gulf oil assets. |
Yes, our government learned they can fight illegitimate wars on behalf of Israel and the war machine by easily manufacturing consent. |
If the corrupt government officials (e.g., wretched scumbags at State and in Congress at the top of the list) who have irreparably disgraced the idea of what many of us grew up believing to be the virtues of our own country make the catastrophic mistake of calling on the SSS to draft our sons into conflict on behalf of Israel, I think the inexorable consequence should be crystal clear to everyone: preemptive self-defense will be declared, and nobody should be surprised when all involved are made fair game. |
Why do they want nuclear war????
|
Of course. Trump would love a war then he can declare martial law and name himself President for life. It is the job of Congress to declare war and only a simple majority is needed. All you fools who voted for Trump be prepared to send your sons and daughters to the Middle East to fight and then be prepared to pick up their remains at Dover Air Force base. |
It will be Armageddon be suse Russia. China. Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan will join gives against Israel and the US. We have no allies in Europe. |
Jeff, it would be much worse than Iraq. Iran’s nuclear infrastructure is deeply entrenched and more complex than Iraq’s Osirak reactor, making complete dismantlement through airstrikes unlikely. The army is very strong and Israel would not be able to have a decisive victory. They will pull us into the war. It will be a disaster for American troops. One of my favorite people to follow on the subject is DC’s very own Vali Nasr, former dean of SAIS at JHU. |
