I’d love to get 4 hours of sleep on my way to Europe. My under-inflated neck pillow has not been cutting it. What works for you if the standard U neck pillow does not. |

They are apparently very controversial OP |
Pilot wife here. Lots of opinions about this. Recommendations:
*Small memory foam pillow for camping (put behind your back; against the window; or extra if you are in lay flat) * Cabeau with the strap that attaches to the headrest *Sleep mask with built in Bluetooth headphones *Scarf that is big enough to be an extra blanket |
I have an inflatable one that sits on the tray table, and to be leaned against. I've never had much luck with neck pillows for actually sleeping. I need to take the weight off my neck |
Here is the main thing - you want it to be very firm (like hard memory foam) and you want it to clip tight or cross in the front so that your chin doesn't bob down. You also want it to be tall enough that you don't have to angle your head side to side or to the back to meet the pillow.
Lots meet this criteria. But you don't want too soft or too short. |
Yes. This is exactly what I found, and what got me a couple of hours of sleep for the first time. Go to somewhere that you can try them to see which works like TJ Maxx or buy one at the airport. |
I absolutely love the trtl but DH hates it so there are strong opinions. You need to try a few at home |
I love my infinity pillow. I finally have a place to relax my arms. |
Cabeau. But some people hate them. My kids can’t get around the idea of it around their necks. I think it’s awesome though. |
+1. It takes some getting used to because you have to strap it tighter than you'd think you should. But after my first flight it is hands down the best I've tried. |
I own about four different travel pillows, including the Cabeau, which is my second favorite, but this thing is a game changer. It straps to the backrest and the eye mask wraps around the front to hold your head up. Once you learn that you can relax your neck, it's so comfortable. IME, an actual pillow that wraps around your throat has to be too tight to be effective, so either your head is bobbing or you're being choked.
