Looking for '08 Travel Club

Are there any '08 EDP/Travel teams around the McLean/Vienna region that my son can practice/play games with for the upcoming season? I was made aware that in some teams, there are only eight people attending practices and my son who plays JV is looking to improve before he tries out for varsity as a junior next season. I am aware that tryouts have already concluded for most clubs and my son is bummed out that I was physically unable to take him to any.

Most of the seasons are wrapping up so practices will go on break for the summer. Tryouts maybe over but you can still reach out for id sessions to get on a roster.

I know this is a challenge to arrange but if he can organize pickup games with friends that would be helpful. DS has been playing varsity and the seniors each year arrange unofficial practices/scrimmages on weekday mornings for anybody interested. Those really were helpful. Perhaps your school does something similar? Another thought is to see if any summer league USL-Y teams have a spot. DS just found one to join last minute through Valor.

Try Villarreal VA. Their ‘07 boys just finished with an incredible season.

VYS is holding supplemental tryouts for their 08/09B. Tryouts are 8:15pm at Oakton HS on Tuesday and Thursday. Check out their instagram.

I’m puzzled by this. They had a ton of kids at their tryouts and a full roster at 09. Why are they still short and combining with the 08s? Are they cutting kids from their second team?

We're in MD but I'd suggest you call around. My 09 kid stopped participating with their travel team in February because they just became too busy at school. I don't think he's the only one. This is a prime age for kids to bail in favor of other commitments.

I have no experience with VYS but I have an 08 and most clubs combined 08/09 and will have them play u19 skipping u18 for their A teams. As far as supplemental tryouts, they might be looking for a player for a specific position or only looking for the lowest team. DS has friends without college aspirations who will be dropping soccer for senior year.
