Sofitel Baru (Colombia) - room question

Anonymous
I’ve reached out to the hotel but haven’t heard back yet on this question so am crowd sourcing. Partner and I will be traveling with our 5 year old. Room options are a king or two “twins.” The beds look like full sized mattresses in the pictures but we know they can be misleading. My preference is two beds but not if they are actually twin sized mattresses! If so we will just get a king and all sleep together. Has anyone stayed and can comment on the size of the beds in rooms with two beds?

My other question relates to booking: I can select two adults and one child but then the room description indicates only “two persons” are permitted and won’t let me book. Should I just remove the kid and book for two adults? Does the kid count as a person? I’m not going to reserve two rooms for the three of us, but I don’t want drama when I arrive with my kid and they push back on three of us sharing a room. Any insights for folks who have been there would be appreciated!

This is so insanely specific I think you'd have way better luck over searching Tripadvisor or getting in touch with the hotel. Maybe just try, ya know, calling them?

I would not show up at any hotel with surprise kids or additional guests, especially not internationally.

+1
WhatsApp is almost always the best way to communicate with a business in Colombia.

The two twins room we reserved for our kids were twin sized beds. The pictures were misleading. Recommend communicating with them through WhatsApp, which we did to reserve the hotel’s boat to the island from Cartagena. Awesome resort.

We stayed there and our kids room had two twin beds. Resort is lovely but the food is awful

When I stayed there in fall with a friend, we had a "superior twin room" (just checked the booking) but they were two enormous beds, not typical twin beds. Contact them by email to ask! They also have suites

Definitely do the boat ride from Cartagena as opposed to taxi. I disagree w the PP who disliked the food. We had terrific fish, still remember the delicious sweet coconut milk rice and also very much enjoyed the free cooking demos in the late afternoons that ended up being a sizeable snack.

I liked the pools much more than the beach and ocean which was rocky. The resort is spotless and well run. Enjoy!
