One of the most amazing man-made things I have ever seen in my worldwide travels is Minature Wunderland in Hamburg.

Be sure to make advance reservations, though or you won't get in!

^ It's multiple floors of incredibly detailed minature versions of places/things from around the world - famous cities and natural places, and everything in between including airports, racetracks, etc.

The level of detail is astounding. Thousands of people the size of large rice grains and each of them is hand-crafted/painted and different.

Agree about Miniatur Wunderland! It is one of our favorite memories with kids of anywhere in Europe.
