We just saw this over the weekend. Anyone else?
FWIW, we are pretty stunned by how many people (critics and audience) gave this a big thumbs up. |
I didn't see it but I watched the trailer and read a detailed plot synopsis, and I was surprised by the juxtaposition between these things (which seemed to point to a cruel, cringy, and sadistic indie movie - which I get is some people's taste if not mine) and the movie blurbs which called it "hilarious." So curious what you saw. |
We went because it was billed as a comedy but we are stumped at to what category of humor this is. We didn't laugh once during the whole movie. It was like spending a couple of hours with very weird people who were one dimensional, self-absorbed and behaved in implausible ways. You just want to get away from them as soon as possible and forget you ever met them. |
We saw it on opening night and liked it ok. |
Just curious - do you consider it a comedy? |
I'm a huge Paul Rudd fan and I like a fair amount of A24 films but this one didn't do it for me. To each their own. |
Omg, there were so many funny things in it! He loses his wife in the sewer?! And the end!? He just couldn’t help himself. Also, best line of the whole movie: “also, we should still be in Afghanistan.” |
