1099 is illegal tax fraud for a camp counseler. Any camp that does it is illegitimate.

They ought to be paid as w-2— I can’t imagine an argument for camp counselors being i dependent contractors— but that doesn’t mean they aren’t being paid that way.

My daughter is in this situation. It is totally bogus. 6 weeks of scheduled work 8:30-3 and is a 1099. It's a good job for her but we are unhappy with the company.
