Murch questions

Hello! We will be moving inbounds for Murch in July and our rising 1st grader will be starting there in the Fall. I’ve been trying to get a sense of things ahead of registration and would really appreciate insights from current parents. I know we can call the school, but I’d love to get the real scoop and we don’t know anyone in the neighborhood yet to ask!

1. Aftercare programs – Capitol Language Services vs. Wonders: It looks like there are two options for aftercare and I’d love to hear how they compare. The schedules on the website look pretty similar. Our top priorities are:
- Minimal (and preferably no) screen time
- Outdoor play
If you’ve had experience with either or both, what did you like or not like? Any big differences in staff consistency, structure, or enrichment? Do they both have spots available for anyone who signs up or are there waitlists, especially given that we won’t be able to sign up until July?

2. What extracurriculars are available to 1st graders? Chorus, school play, band, clubs? Our daughter loves art, music, and dance.

3. Are there any active Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, or other forums for Murch parents? I’d love to stay in the loop over the summer.

4. Anything else you wish you’d known about Murch ahead of time—regarding logistics, teachers, communication, etc?

We are hoping it’s not too hard to make friends at the first grade level, since it’s still early in elementary, but we have the normal nerves starting at a new school so we’re just hoping to settle in quickly once we move!
