I recently noticed that a place where I live (not DC anymore) offers these. Does anyone have any experience with any of these scan places (they do the scan and have a radiologist read it and you follow up with another physician as needed)? I am particularly interested in the virtual colonoscopy, but would probably do more (although it can get expensive).
Thanks for any info! |

I had one once as I hate general anesthesia. It was moderately uncomfortable, you still do the bowel prep, then they blow gas/air up your rectum to inflate it, and scan you. You have to pass all that gas before the discomfort eases up.
My initial scan said I had diverticulosis, but a real colonoscopy years later didn't find that |
| I would only get a colonoscopy because if there are polyps you need a colonoscopy to get rid of them. Plus radiation exposure. Unless you have medical reasons I’d do a colonoscopy |
| OK thanks everyone. --OP |
