DS will be travelling in Europe with friends for three weeks in June. Any suggestions for mobile phone carriers for that period? Using Verizon would be a very expensive option. |
Use an eSim. That's the cheapest option and it works well. |
Here is a recent thread on this topic:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1267712.page#29825321 The summary is that you should use an eSim. I always used AIRALO which connects you with the local cellular companies in the country you are visiting. Usually you will only get data not phone service. |
Verizon is $6 per day.
That’s $126 for 21 days. Well worth it imo. Works as it would in the US. If you switch SIM cards his US number won’t work. |
No SIM cards are necessary. And it really depends on whether the addition $110 you would pay over an eSim is chump change to you or not. With and eSim you can do calling over wireless or facetime. |
Almost anywhere in Europe you can go to a cell phone store and for $20-$30 get a sim card for your travels. Just make sure to tell them what other countries you'll be traveling in to get the appropriate plan.

Just purchase a sim in whatever country you plan to stay in. |
