How can Amy get Alton to stop?

Anonymous
Alton works in Division A. Amy works in Division B . Amy is senior to Alton. Division A’s leadership has regular meetings with Division B’s leadership. Neither Alton nor Amy is in these. Amy’s leadership does make her aware of these conversations as these leaders have a voice in how this very large project is designed and delivered.

Amy sets up meetings to include those key parties across A and B, Alton tells Amy he needs to review her meeting attendees before invitations go out. Amy explains her leaders have been trying to avoid back and forth because there are intricate layers of approval needed from these leaders down to the colors and fonts used on promotional materials, so with that, Amy has decided to include the people from A in meetings hosted by B.

(Background: Past history is that Division A has changed their minds months into previous projects due to not involving all key leaders in core decisions causing heavy re-work and delays then provided feedback that they were unhappy with the finished product )

Does Alton have any right to review and determine who from Division A attends meetings given the circumstances of A and B leadership meeting regularly without him?

Amy explained this to Alton who continues to email and call that he needs to review meeting invitation attendees because he gets in trouble when he sends out invitations.

Amy has not received any backlash from either side of leadership regarding being invited as optional attendees.

They need to sleep together and get it out of their system.

This sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare. I’d say let Alton send the invite then Amy forwards as necessary.

Was coming to say the same thing. I read this a couple times and it seems like they are making this situation way more complicated than it needs to be.

You should have given Amy a B name. I’m so confused reading your post I don’t have an answer.

Amy clearly cannot be trusted to convey all relevant information nor identify who needs that info in the first place. Amy needs to be honest with herself about why Alton is making a fuss in the first place.

If you are Amy and this is how you communicate, I can see why Alton has issues with you. Your post makes no sense.

what happened to Larlo and Larla?

So it sounds like both Amy and Alton are admin assistants? And Alton's leaders want him to approve the invite list on both sides for these important meetings? If that's the case, what's the big deal? Sounds like Amy is being difficult just to be difficult and act like she's "higher" than Alton.

They are clearly more competent than Amy is.

Amy shouldn’t be unilaterally deciding who to include from the other Division. That is NOT her prerogative.

Op here. All projects are executed from Amy’s department which is why she sends invitations out for all projects led by her department’s team. Alton’s department is requesting the work for their department. Her leadership wants the individuals on each invitation because they are interacting with them in 1:1 meetings.

Alton, does not want the his leaders added even though Amy’s leaders are requesting they be added.

This still makes no sense. You're terrible at communicating and I'm guessing that's why there are some issues. So Alton wants Amy to send him the invitations so he can send them out to his leaders instead of Amy doing it? Is that the whole problem? If they are attending the meeting, obviously they need to be invited to it. Or are they being invited even though they aren't attending and Alton wants you to stop flooding their inbox with unnecessary invites? If the issue is literally that he wants to send the invites to his own team leaders, good God this is like high school behavior. Just let him send them and be done with this ridiculous drama.

Amy needs to be more of a team player.
