do traffic laws and enforcement even exist any more in the DMV?

What is wrong with the DMV? It's not just the insane levels of idiot and terrible drivers, the worst part is the sheer number of morons on the road now who KNOWINGLY break laws because they just don't GAF any more. And there's never, ever any consequences. I constantly see idiots who drive in bus lanes allll the way down the road because they want to cut in front of traffic. Yes, they know, because the entire lane is painted and there are BUS ONLY markings on the damn road. Or the aholes who go straight from right turn only lanes because they want to cut in front of everyone. And NO TURN ON RED? Completely optional now I guess in the DMV. And in the DMV, a red light now means roll completely through with zero stop before making a right turn.

We need an ICE like police enforcement but for drivers. I'm so sick and tired of all of the law breakers doing whatever they want, when they want.

PP you replied to. I meant fines from traffic cameras. They're everywhere in DC, for stop signs, red lights, speeding, etc... And they're enforced! My husband has received some tickets and I need to insist, every time he drives into DC, that he obey the speed limit, come to a complete stop at stop signs instead of his usual rolling stop, and not try to squeak by at the orange light. You know, basic traffic rules! But somehow he doesn't get it. It's frustrating.

PP you replied to. I meant fines from traffic cameras. They're everywhere in DC, for stop signs, red lights, speeding, etc... And they're enforced! I drive a Tesla on FSD. It follows all the rules. Makes complete stops and obeys lights, no turns on red, doesn't speed, etc. I get a lot of people honking at me for obeying the rules, but not my problem. I don't get tickets.

I got my first camera ticket in five years and feel like a dope because it was in DC and I live in Maryland. Nobody pays in that situation, do they?

No not at all. We're leaving VA and one of the reasons is lawlessness. Pretty much every red light in Alexandria, Fairfax, Arlington, and Falls Church has between 1-4 people who actively run read lights like it's their job with ZERO law enforcement concerns. The lack of safety is maddening and car deaths in VA are skyrocketing and no one gives a crap.
