Hotel Xcaret

We are headed to Xcaret in a few weeks. Family of 4 with two older teens. Has anybody been that can tell me what to expect?

We are hoping for some relaxation and family time, with some fun nature activities. I'm a little overwhelmed by all of the various parks and finding it hard to get a whole lot of information on them. If you had to pick only two to visit, which ones would you choose? We definitely want to see some cenotes.

TIA.

We had a great time. You'll definitely do Xcaret park because it's right next door. Xplore is also a must do--you can do the night version or day version.

With adventurous kids, I'd consider Xavage, too. Lots of adventure activities.

Personally, I didn't love Xel-Ha. It felt more crowded and I've done better snorkeling elsewhere.

It’s been years but we didn’t find it overwhelming. We had a rough plan and adapted, dropping one park to hang at the resort for an afternoon.

We loved the Xenotes tour - that’s a full day but worth it. We liked Xcaret Park because it was right next door and Xenses because it was close and short (maybe 2.5 hours?). But if you only want two parks and want more adventure I’m not sure I’d pick those.

I would do Xcaret and xplor. Adding on a 3rd I would do xenotes. My kids are younger and we haven’t been to xavage. Xenses is probably better for younger kids unless your teens would want the cool pics from xenses. It is also a quick half day add on.

^ agree we didn’t love xel ha and that one is the furthest away iirc

I’d do explore and xenotes as my two. After those two, you can skip Xel ha. It’s too long of a day. We just were there for spring break and had a great time. Food was amazing and the place never felt crowded. We had some close nature encounters on the property. We dropped in on the show at Xcaret park at night. We didn’t stay the whole time but it’s quite a show. Also, swim the censotes on property. It’s an extensive area.

My family visited Xcaret Park as a day trip from Cancun.

If you like theater, dancing, or folk music, the evening show was spectacular.

I personally also liked the Pre-Columbian dance show during the day (performed at intervals, for no extra charge). And the trick riding show.

I had younger kids who were not fond of the swimming opportunities.

My younger one still jokes about the "fish therapy" service we saw offered there. You can put your feet in a basin with little cleaner fish and they will nibble the dead skin. We didn't try this for ourselves.

Xcaret was Disney-level of management from what I could see. It outperformed my expectations. I would go again.

So Xcaret is a park? I always thought it was just an AI resort.

Xcaret hotel is an all inclusive hotel with free access (for the most part) to all of the Xcaret parks. You can also stay elsewhere and pay to visit an individual Xcaret park.

We stayed at the Xcaret occidental and tickets to the Xcaret park were included. Be sure to go to the night show.
